"The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority." — Ken Blanchard
I've been thinking lately about the role of influences in our lives, and how they are often quite conflicting.
Some influences are positive, some are negative, and yet there are other influences that are neutral and it's up to us to decide what kind of impact they have on us.
But influence is a two way street. Just as others may influence us, we too have influence on others.
Everything we do communicates something, but are we really aware of what we are communicating? Whether people look to us for leadership or simply to judge, a good question to ask ourselves is if our influence is a positive one that builds up, or a negative one that tears down.
Over the next several weeks we'll be exploring 5 Magic Words that are key to developing positive influence to impact our own personal and professional lives, as well as the lives of others.
