"Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need." — Khalil Gibran
A number of years ago I heard a heartwarming story about a man who passed by a poor individual freezing without a coat on a cold winter’s day. Without hesitating, the man took off his expensive warm winter coat and gave it to this poor man.
The man was shocked! His gut instinct was to refuse the gift, ashamed of the thought that someone else will now freeze in his place. But the generous man insisted. After all, he assured the poor man that he had other winter coats at home, and what use are they doing sitting on a coat rack when others are freezing now? How shameful to put such abundance to waste.
When we have more than we need the Magic Word Generosity reminds us that abundance comes with the responsibility to share those blessings.
