"Empowerment allows us to dream new dreams, enjoy new experiences, and grow through life on purpose." — Jonas Cain Learn More ⬇︎ While on my daily run recently I was nearly killed!
I was in a pedestrian crosswalk and a car that was stopped at a stop sign peeled out, pedal to the metal, and headed right for me...as if they were aiming to purposefully run me down! The car came so close in that split second that I actually thought to myself: "So this is how it ends." Thinking fast, I sped up and quickly jumped out of the way just as the car wizzed by the left side of my body. Just thinking about it now makes my heart race! When I finally made it to the other side of the street, watching the car speed off down the road, I thought about everything I had done that day leading up to that moment. I thought: "What if I had froze and couldn't get out of the way in time?" "What if the car had moved just a second faster?" "Would I be content with everything that I've done up until this moment?" "Is there anything that I've left undone? " The adrenaline soon ran off and I realized that I had injured my leg during the incident. I must have twisted or pulled a muscle or something, because I had to limp back home instead of finishing the run. As I write this email to you, I still have yet to get back out to run and still can't hike, but, on a positive note, I can finally use stairs without wincing with pain. The experience has provided some valuable perspective. Perspective on my life, my work, and the people I serve. Although I've always tended to be a motivated person, I find that lately I've been more motivated than ever before, because we simply never know when today will be our last day. As a result, I'm making some changes to the way Hashtag Positivity operates, and I'm using the positivity principle of empowerment to facilitate these changes, including being mindful of what I read, what I listen to, and who I learn from. Be on the lookout soon for an exciting announcement about how you can benefit from these changes. In the meantime, if there's anything I can help you with, please feel free to reach out. I rather enjoy hearing from people, especially since this eye-opening experience. Reflection What are you doing today to empower yourself?
