In every moment, everyone is doing the very best that they can using the K-SCORM Rubric: 1) Knowledge + Skills, 2) Capacity, 3) Opportunities, 4) Resources, and 5) Motivation. Here’s how they work:
1. Knowledge & Skills: When you’re not knowledgeable and have few skills, it inhibits your ability to make informed choices and take informed actions—acting as a metaphoric straitjacket holding you back from making your own genuine choices. By contrast, the more you know and the more you are able to do, the more skilled you will be to make informed decisions and take informed actions—because your choices become empowered from a place of understanding, reason, and ability, rather than from ignorance, blind acceptance, and resignation. Therefore, the more you know and the more skills you have, the more choices that you have available to you. In this way, education and training serve as the key to Free Will.
2. Capacity: Capacity can be seen as either static and unchanging, or as fluid and ever evolving: With a fixed mindset you don't believe you can learn new knowledge and skills to enhance your capacity, yet with a growth mindset you believe you can enhance your capacity through deliberate growth opportunities, such as education and skills training. In this way, if Knowledge & Skills are the key to Free Will, then your Capacity is how you access that key through a growth mindset and an internal locus of control—where you believe you have the power within you to affect your experience of what happens to you regardless of what’s happening around you.
3. Opportunities: Opportunities are an environmental factor providing encouraging space to implement, practice, and hone your knowledge and skills. In doesn’t matter what you know and it doesn’t matter what you know how to do if they are not used. Knowledge and skills are only potential power until they are actually applied. Applied knowledge and skills will enhance your current knowledge and skills while at the same time also enhancing your capacity even further, collectively serving to provide you with more opportunities to step into the fullness of yourself by expressing your Free Will. (An important thing to keep in mind here is that you can either wait for opportunities to be presented to you, or you can make your own opportunities. The choice is yours.)
4. Resources: Resources are the tools you have at your disposal, and aside from physical objects they can also include things like time, money, support, and relationships. Access to the right tools can be a true gamechanger. The more resources that are available and the better their quality, the more capable you will be to take advantage of the opportunities presented to you. In this way, resources are an enabler of Free Will by activating your opportunities.
5. Motivation: Motivation is an individual factor that includes the various consequences and rewards that compel you to utilize and follow through with your Knowledge & Skills, Capacity, Opportunities, and Resources. In short, Motivation is your reason for taking action, and typically involves seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. Motivation can be enhanced in a number of ways, including but not limited to:

How It Works
When organizations try to do too much too soon, no growth actually happens. Instead, they just end up wasting time, money, and resources. In a similar way, taking a once-and-done approach to training and development also has little effect on lasting change. Rather, it takes a focused and consistent approach to initiate and manage growth by design.
That's why Hashtag Positivity takes an innovative approach to initiating and managing positive change by design using The E3 Method of Growth Management. Here's how it works:
